The emphasis throughout the Uni Girls Volleyball Program is to teach our athletes to be technically sound volleyball players and work on the correct mechanics of each skill along with playing with great effort and enthusiasm on the court. Above all though we want Uni Girls Volleyball Athletes to be great teammates and confident athletes who treat everyone around them with respect and kindness. We want all of the athletes in our program to support each other at every chance and always be there to help and bolster their teammates. We expect our athletes to make outstanding efforts on the court while having fun and enjoying competition and the sport of volleyball. As a member of this team, it is critical to understand that you represent yourself and the school, coach, family, and University High School’s community at all times. Whether you are on or off the court, we expect all players to maintain a positive image that reflects highly on all of the activities and behaviors.
Our coaches’ priority is making decisions that are in the best interest of the team as a whole and its success. Playing time is determined by many factors, including overall skill level, attitude, attendance, respect for coaches, respect for teammates, hustle, and match dynamics. Many coaches will also utilize practice and match statistics to help make playing time decisions. All athletes will have equal opportunity to play, compete, learn, and improve during all practice sessions, assuming their attendance at practices is consistent and their motivation to listen and learn is evident.
